Ecosave Pay

Fixed energy, renewed on time.

We compare fixed business electricity and gas prices from a panel of UK suppliers, worked out on what your business really uses. Then we keep an eye on your end date, so you agree the next contract before the old one runs out.

The Oxnoble, a white corner pub with a blue painted ground floor, on Liverpool Road in Castlefield, Manchester, lit up at dusk with hanging baskets and a Sunday roast board in the window.

The Oxnoble, Liverpool Road, Castlefield. Every pub and kitchen on a street like this has its own meters, its own supplier and its own end date.

We compare fixed prices from suppliers including British Gas, EDF, E.ON Next, YGP, Yu Energy, TotalEnergies, Valda Energy, SmartestEnergy and Crown Gas & Power.

What a fixed price fixes, and what it doesn't.

A fixed contract locks two numbers for the whole term: the unit rate, which is what you pay for each kWh you use, and the standing charge, a set amount for every day you're supplied. Neither moves until the contract ends, whatever happens to energy prices in the meantime.

What isn't fixed is how much you use. A cold January or a new oven will still show up on the bill. That's why we price on your real annual consumption, taken from your bill, rather than a round number: the price you're quoted is the price that fits how your business actually runs.

Every price we show you has the third-party costs in it already. VAT and the Climate Change Levy are shown separately, so you can line suppliers up like for like. Pay by Direct Debit and you get the supplier's preferential rate.

Your end date is the date that matters.

Every fixed contract has an end date. Before it, there's a renewal window: the stretch of time when you can agree your next contract, so the new price starts the day after the old one stops.

Miss the end date and most suppliers move you onto out-of-contract or rollover rates, which usually cost more. Nobody rings to warn you. Your first clue is the next bill.

Example: a three-year fixed contract. Contract lengths and renewal windows vary by supplier.

We put your end date in the diary. When your renewal window opens, your account manager rings you with prices, well before the end date. If the best price is with the supplier you're already with, we sort the renewal and there's nothing for you to do.

Don't know your end date? It's often printed on your bill. If it isn't, send us the bill anyway and we'll find out, including whether you've already slipped onto rollover rates.

Electricity and gas work a little differently.

Same process, same team, same renewal call. The bills just read differently, so each has its own page.

Business electricity

Your supply is identified by its MPAN, the 21-digit number in the S box on your bill. We price single-rate, day and night, and half-hourly meters, all on the usage your bill shows.

Business electricity

Business gas

Your gas supply has an MPRN, usually 6 to 10 digits. The meter measures cubic metres or cubic feet, and the bill turns that into kWh. Kitchens, pubs and bakeries tend to burn most of theirs.

What we check on your bill

Send us your latest bill and we read the whole thing, not just the total. These are the things that decide which prices make sense for you.

  • Who supplies you now and the exact date your contract ends.
  • Whether you're already out of contract and paying rollover rates without knowing it.
  • Your real annual consumption in kWh, so prices are worked out on what you use.
  • Your unit rates and standing charges so you can see the old price beside the new one.
  • Your meter numbers the MPAN for electricity and the MPRN for gas.
  • How you pay because Direct Debit gets the preferential rates.

How a switch works

Five steps. You only have to do two of them, and if you're renewing with your current supplier, the switch needs nothing from you at all.

  1. Step 1, you do this: Send your latest bill

All pages, ideally less than 3 months old. A photo on WhatsApp is fine.

  2. Step 2, we do this: We compare

Fixed prices from our panel of UK suppliers, priced on your real annual consumption.

  3. Step 3, you do this: You choose and sign

Pick the price that suits you and sign a Letter of Authority so we can deal with the suppliers.

  4. Step 4, we do this: We handle the switch

Termination notices and the switch are on us. Renewing with your current supplier needs nothing from you.

  5. Step 5, we do this: We ring before renewal

Your account manager calls when your next renewal window opens.

Questions about business energy

Not here? Ring 0161 814 9299 and ask. You'll speak to someone in our Manchester office.

What does a fixed business energy contract actually fix?

The unit rate and the standing charge, for the whole contract term. Your bill still goes up and down with how much you use, but the price per kWh and the charge per day don't move until the contract ends.

What happens if my contract ends and I do nothing?

Most suppliers move you onto out-of-contract or rollover rates, which usually cost more than a fixed contract. That's why your account manager rings you when your renewal window opens, well before the end date.

Can you quote for electricity and gas together?

Yes. Pick Both on the form, or send us both bills. We price each one on its own usage, so your electricity and gas don't have to end up with the same supplier.

What do I need to get a quote?

Your latest bill, all pages, ideally less than 3 months old. A photo on WhatsApp is fine. We price from the real consumption on it, not an estimate.

Are VAT and the Climate Change Levy included in your prices?

No. Prices are shown excluding VAT and CCL so you can compare suppliers like for like. Third-party costs are included, and paying by Direct Debit gets you the supplier's preferential rate.

How do I know a call is really from you?

Your account is password protected. Anyone calling you about your energy should be able to quote your password. If they can't, put the phone down and ring us on 0161 814 9299.
